Working under an Advocate of Supreme Court, visiting and observing the proceedings of the HIGHEST COURT OF LAW in India and the Principal Bench of National Green Tribunalevery day for a law sophomore is like being on cloud nine, but behind the scenes, there's a lot of research and analytical thinking involved in drafting and presenting the cases before the esteemed Judges, whether it be assisting the advocates through legal research or assistance in drafting special leave petitions, appeals and transfer petitions or it be assistance in filing counter-affidavits, rejoinder affidavits and other applications like application of precedence. Everything needs to be done in a perfect manner so that the nexus to the object of the work I.e. learning how things in the highest court of law proceeds, is accomplished.
We Anmol Singh Khanuja, Kartikeya Awasthi, Ratnesh Nagar, Soumitra Joshi and Syed Vilayat (the students of SOL, NMIMS, Navi Mumbai) worked on matters related to offences against human bodies, Ex-serviceman central health schemes, Environmental cases like polluter pace principle, Consumer protection appeals, application for anticipatory bail and some civil cases like application for visitation rights under the PWDV act, etc and observed proceedings of Patiala house courts.
During our visits to The Apex Court, we witnessed the proceedings in CJI'S court witnessed the INX media case, Indore Development Authority case (Land Acquisition case), etc. We were lucky enough that we got the opportunity to meet and speak to the Solicitor general of India Shri Tushar Mehta, Senior Advocates Shri Kapil Sibal and Shri Abhishek Singhvi.
We would like to convey our utmost gratitude to the Associate Dean of the School of Law (NMIMS, Navi Mumbai) Prof.(Dr.) Shri Saurabh Chaturvedi for providing us with the exposure of how the real world litigation works.
