The School of Economics at NMIMS Navi Mumbai held a dynamic orientation program on July 12th and 13th, 2024, to warmly welcome and guide new students. This two-day event was thoughtfully designed to introduce freshers to the academic environment, key faculty members, and the vibrant campus community.
Day 1 opened with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcoming address from Dr. Hemangi Kelkar and an inspiring speech by the institute’s Director, Dr. Subhasheesh Bhattacharya, who highlighted the importance of holistic education. An insightful guest lecture by Dr. Yogesh Kulkarni further enriched the day by exploring key economic concepts. Dr. Ishfaq Khoja, the course coordinator, then addressed students and parents, providing clarity on the curriculum and answering their queries. The day wrapped up with a vote of thanks by the Student Council President, appreciating everyone’s efforts in making the event a success.
Day 2 focused on campus resources, starting with an introduction from the Administration Department and the Placement Committee, which outlined the career opportunities available. Dr. Khoja introduced the faculty, while students showcased the various committees and clubs, including the flagship club Econ-o-shastra and the Cultural and Sports Committees. The Student Council motivated freshers to get involved in campus life, while senior students shared their experiences on balancing academics and extracurriculars. The program ended with a lively icebreaker session, fostering interaction between freshers and seniors, creating a sense of community.
The orientation was a resounding success, equipping new students with valuable information and fostering excitement for their journey at NMIMS Navi Mumbai.
